Micah Barnes had started the Buena Vista University rodeo team as a junior. With the spring season of her senior year cancelled, she may use her final year of rodeo eligibility during graduate school next year.

Merchant has stepped down from his role as BVU President, effective immediately. Dr. Brian Lenzmeier was appointed by the BVU Board of Trustees to serve as Interim President.

Bazyl Horsey, a senior computer science major, took the phrase 'Busy as a Beaver' literally during his time at BVU. Being busy has paid off, as he and fellow students work on a pair of tech start-ups prior to Commencement.

Due to the high interest of students on campus, BVU is adding esports, a multiplayer video gaming activity, to the roster this fall. Complete with an Esports Arena, this club gives students another unique opportunity to get involved at BVU.

Andrew Boell, an accounting and business double major, participated in sports as a team manager for the men's basketball team as well as a player on the tennis team. The senior now looks forward to using what he learned to jump-start a career.

BVU plans to resume in-person classes on campus for the Fall 2020 semester. We are coordinating with local, county, and state health officials to ensure that when we re-open our campus it will be as safe an environment as possible.

Buena Vista University announces Commencement for the class of 2020 will be moved to Sunday, Oct. 11 due to campus being closed this spring in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event, which will take place May 30-31, was once a staple on the Iowa Golf Association calendar. Local organizers are hoping this first year back will reestablish the golf course’s presence as a regular featured attraction on the IGA slate.
