Julie Downing

Julie Downing is an Education Coordinator/Advisor for Buena Vista University’s Online Programs and has been serving BVU since 2016. Downing loves working as an advisor as she finds personal satisfaction in helping students set goals, define a path to reach their goals, and gain the credentials needed to enhance and grow their career.
 
Although Downing graduated with a degree in business education and holds a teaching license, she has never actually taught business. Prior to joining the BVU team, she spent 28 years working for a vocational job training program where she learned the importance of alternative educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth and non-traditional students and the impact of taking intentional steps to reach your goals. She also spent time teaching courses in English as a Second Language to displaced workers to help them develop skills needed to find new positions. Assisting people to enter a career that they are prepared for and passionate about is her ultimate goal. At BVU, she enjoys helping students discover their passions and earn their degree.
 
Outside of work, Downing likes spending time with family and friends. She enjoys traveling, daily walks, baking, and flower gardening in her spare time.
