Dr. Gail Hartsock

  • Associate Professor of Mathematics

B.S., Buena Vista University
Ph.D., Baylor University

Dr. Hartsock completed her dissertation in representation theory and algebraic combinatorics. She firmly agrees with Plato that mathematics is important not so much for its practical use, but for training the mind in logical reasoning. Her current interests include the history and philosophy of mathematics, mathematical presentation aimed at a general audience, and Fibonacci numbers – especially results accessible for undergraduate research.
