Dr. Fredi Arias

B.S., Zamorano Agricultural College of Honduras Central America; M.B.A., INCAE; M.S., Ph.D., University of Missouri-Columbia.

Fredi Arias has served as Instructor of Agricultural Business at Buena Vista University since 2021. Prior to coming to BVU, Arias served as an Economic Development Consultant for Interamerican Development Bank three years, taught at Zamorano Agricultural College twenty-three years, and assisted in promoting agribusiness development throughout the entire Latin American region.

Arias grew up on a diversified crop and dairy farm in Honduras, providing him with a background in dairy, tobacco, corn, beans, and tomatoes production. In 2017, he received his best professor recognition from the Zamorano’s graduating class of 2017 as the “Graduation Godfather” granted to a professor for the first time in Zamorano’s history. Throughout his professional career, he has had a strong interest in Economics Development as they apply to crop diversification and output transformation in agriculture. Currently, he is looking for venues to promote new agricultural business, here in Iowa, especially in new market opportunities.

In his spare time, Fredi enjoys outdoor activities such walking and biking, and spending time with his family.
