Buena Vista University pre-law students got front-row seats and a chance to meet with Iowa Supreme Court justices during the court's special session in Anderson Auditorium on campus.

The Buena Vista University National Alumni Association honored four individuals for their service to the University and to their communities at a special luncheon and at half-time of the Homecoming game on Oct. 4.

On Oct. 3, Buena Vista University crowned its 2014 Homecoming king and queen: Ian Grigsby, a senior mathematics major from Omaha, Nebraska, and Beth Weber, a senior biology major from Danbury.

Carolyn McDermott is one of only 30 U.S. students to be awarded the fellowship, which provides financial support for undergraduate study and an EPA facility internship, and plans to research emerging contaminants.

BVU held its fifth annual Footprint Project exercise, with the objective of developing creative ideas to spur environmental change and reduce the area's environmental footprint. The winning project focused on the disposal of used electronic devices and e-waste.

Dr. Jeremy Horpedahl, assistant professor of economics, was featured in an interview with an Omaha Public Radio station about his research regarding the impact of tax incentives on Nebraska taxpayers.

BVU has been named as a Lead Institution by Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and selected to participate in its national Lead Initiative on civic learning and democratic engagement.

Buena Vista University has retained its standing as the third best value school among Midwest regional colleges in U.S. News & World Report's 2015 Best Colleges Rankings publication. This is the third consecutive year that BVU has held this ranking.

Dr. Jason Shepherd SL'99 decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and teach his Discrete Math class outside of the Estelle Siebens Science Center.

Adventure seeker and Storm Lake native Chuck Stark will be on campus sharing his story of exploring the world on foot and in a kayak. Stark will also offer kayaking workshops through the American Canoe Association.

Through the program, the institutions can exchange up to two students each per academic year. Students will spend a complete semester studying at the host schools, giving them an immersive international experience.

BVU will hold its 37th annual Founders' Day memorial service on Sept. 6 to honor nine deceased individuals who have served the institution as faculty, staff, trustees, alumni, friends and benefactors.

New students moved onto campus during BVU's Welcome Week activities. They were welcomed to campus by other students, faculty and staff, and made the traditional procession through Victory Arch.

Buena Vista University has announced faculty changes for the 2014-15 academic year, including nine new professors. The new faculty bring strong credentials and new perspectives to campus.

Buena Vista University has announced that Josh Newhouse and Michael Rust will be the co-chairs for its 2014-2015 Community Campaign. Contributions to the Community Campaign help provide resources for scholarships and academic programs.
