Four professors have been selected as finalists for BVU's 2015 George Wythe Award for Excellence in Teaching. The winner will be announced at the Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner on May 22.

The Buena Vista men's basketball team shot better than 50 percent from the field en route to a commanding 94-80 road victory over the University of Dubuque. The win secured the program's 12th overall Iowa Conference title and the ninth under head coach Brian Van Haaften.

Buena Vista University Theatre is presenting the original play "[fuzed & fraid]" Feb. 11-14 in Anderson Auditorium on the BVU campus. It is an original play that was conceived, developed, and written by BVU students, based upon their own personal experiences.

BVU junior Sloane Morrow has received the Excellence in Mentoring Award from the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. The award was presented by Governor Terry Branstad during a special recognition ceremony in Des Moines.

Students explored the beauty and majesty of old and new Japan during the "Art, Culture, History and Society" Interim travel course, led by Kathy Kapitan and Yuriko Togashi.

Buena Vista students experienced Australia in January. They visited several destinations throughout the country, with a focus on natural wildlife, aboriginal culture, and the nation's origins.

Kassi Kommes and Krystal Schulte have spent January Interim at Maxwell/Liebl, an advertising agency in Des Moines. The pair created materials for many of the agency's clients, including radio and print advertisements.

It takes more than building a trebuchet or a DC motor to learn about how technology works. In this course students research and build interesting gadgets while learning the scientific principles behind how simple and complex mechanisms work.
