Ben taught mathematics at Buena Vista for 41 years. His passion for excellence was readily apparent in the way he encouraged every one of his students to reach their highest potential.

Johnson is an accomplished advancement professional with more than 24 years of higher education experience in fundraising, marketing, and alumni relations.

The promos, entitled, "BVTV: For Beavers By Beavers," were created using stop motion animation and motion graphics and took McGrew approximately five months to complete.

The show, which includes a cast and crew of approximately 20 BVU students, was developed to be similar in format to popular late night talk shows such as "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The 2018 commencement speaker will be Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, who is a 2000 graduate of BVU with degrees in biology and political science.

Each spring, the event honors BVU students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as community members, for their outstanding volunteer service and initiatives.

Fiesta Latina is an annual community-wide fundraiser that is held each spring to bring awareness to the Latino culture and to help raise funds for a local non-profit organization.

Professionals - including licensed mental health counselors, social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, and substance abuse providers - who attend the symposium are qualified to receive 2.75 continuing education units.
