This fall, any student beginning enrollment at Buena Vista University who has a parent or grandparent with a degree from BVU, will be awarded a $4,000 Legacy Scholarship.

The Institute offers an approach which deepens students’ cognitive understanding of issues by engaging with scholars and their work in the humanities and social sciences. During the Institute, faculty members and administrators join a group of distinguished scholars to strengthen diversity and civility on college campuses.

Dr. Lucy Shaffer Croft is an accomplished student life professional with nearly 30 years of experience working in higher education settings. She will assume her new role at BVU on April 15.

The URMED internship is awarded to select BVU pre-med students who have an interest in practicing rural medicine. Students are introduced to a variety of clinical and healthcare practices at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and other area rural hospitals.

The last year was filled with academic exploration, student and faculty success, and fun on campus. Join us as we look back on the highlights of 2018 at Buena Vista University.

The year wrapped up with several faculty members’ achievements in a variety of disciplines. No matter their field, BVU faculty spend much of their free time pursuing research and professional development opportunities around the world and bring their expertise back with them to their classrooms.

At Buena Vista University's All-Campus Christmas Dinner, faculty and staff serve students a traditional holiday meal. We attached a camera to the tray of Dr. Thomas Bonagura to get his perspective on this campus tradition.

The evening was full of carols, laughter, and a delicious meal served to students by BVU faculty, staff, and administration. Dressed in their holiday best, students gathered with beloved mascot Buford T. Beaver for photos.

The partnership will provide students three accelerated advanced degree options. Students will complete three years at BVU and either two, three, or four years at Drake and receive degrees from both universities.

BVU's education students hosted an event entitled “Dory and the Dean,” to discuss the positive impact therapy dogs have on youth.

During his college career, Jensen made the most out of the opportunities and connections available to him by interning with many different companies, engaging in organizations on campus, and traveling.

Andrew Bandstra and Tyler Brunner, alongside Dr. Andrea Frantz, attended the Society for Collegiate Journalists’ 2018 Biennium Conference and the College Media Association Fall National College Media Convention, where they were honored for their creative works.

The entire BVU men’s basketball team and, more recently, the BVU softball team, have partnered with BV Buddies, a mentoring program for area youth.

The week includes 16 community engagement opportunities, lunch and learns, speakers, activities, and workshops. Open to the public.

Four students and one professor toured the facility and learned about environmental changes they can implement in the classroom to help students learn with improved participation and outcomes. Students also interacted with high and low technology educational items.
