The Clifford A. Rae Academic Achievement Award rewards business and science students who excel in their academic pursuits and encourages quality learning experiences for students outside the classroom.

During this year’s January Interim, a three-week program that offers opportunities for unique campus and travel experiences, several Buena Vista University students traveled to the Polynesian island of Rapa Nui.

Blue Steel, the new BVU Pep Band, has entertained fans, players, and coaches who gathered at Siebens Fieldhouse this season. Students from 13 high schools in the region joined the band for the Beavers' final home basketball doubleheader.

Several S-STEM scholarship students built bridges, catapults, and mini ecosystems with Storm Lake Middle School students. The group is pioneering a new, large-scale scholarship program at Buena Vista University.

Sophomore Don Phillips II was surprised with the announcement that he had received a two-year scholarship by virtue of his acceptance into the BVU's Army ROTC program, including a monthly stipend and payment to cover books.

The Buena Vista University Concert Choir was named a semifinalist in the prestigious American Prize national nonprofit competition in the performing arts. It is the only choir in Iowa to be selected.

Co-founder of Apple Computer Inc., Silicon Valley icon, and philanthropist Steve Wozniak will participate in an on-campus question-and-answer program with a panel of students from Buena Vista University.

In addition to eight first-place awards across categories in online media, television, and radio, the BVU digital media program earned ICMA’s First Amendment Award.

Kevin Kelly, a Ph.D. student in biomedical sciences, offered an Interim course that taught BVU students how our bodies battle disease and stress.

The trip opened eyes and doors in industrial work sites, labs, graduate school programs, and more. Participating students applied to gain admission into BVU’s new STEM C.A.R.E.E.R.S. program, which featured this travel opportunity as part of the course of study.

Emily's experience throughout much of December and all of January involved observing sports medicine, as well as treatment of pediatric and elderly patients.

Professors joined a BVU alum in leading students during the three-week experience, where students worked to develop a mobile app from a working prototype.

This fall, any student beginning enrollment at Buena Vista University who has a parent or grandparent with a degree from BVU, will be awarded a $4,000 Legacy Scholarship.

The Institute offers an approach which deepens students’ cognitive understanding of issues by engaging with scholars and their work in the humanities and social sciences. During the Institute, faculty members and administrators join a group of distinguished scholars to strengthen diversity and civility on college campuses.

Dr. Lucy Shaffer Croft is an accomplished student life professional with nearly 30 years of experience working in higher education settings. She will assume her new role at BVU on April 15.
