Dr. John Madsen, associate professor emeritus of business and corporate communication, passed away at his home in Rock Island, Illinois. He was one of the most respected faculty members during his tenure at BVU.

When he graduated in May, Michael Meisheid knew that his triple-major in business management, finance and banking, and economics fully prepared him to begin his career at United Fire Group in Cedar Rapids.

Jamii Claiborne, associate professor of digital media, has been named the 28th recipient of the George Wythe Award, BVU's highest honor for excellence in teaching. She has been a faculty member since 2001.

The Buena Vista baseball team captured its second-ever Iowa Conference Baseball Tournament championship with a 10-0 victory over Central College. The win sends BVU into the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Kirsten (Bartleson) Doebel SL'01 was recognized as the Senior Division Teacher of the Year at the National History Day state contest in Des Moines. Kirsten is a teacher at Alta-Aurelia High School.

The BVU Concert Band, under the direction of Jerry Bertrand, assistant professor of instrumental music, will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 11 at 3 p.m. in Schaller Memorial Chapel on the BVU campus.
