Buena Vista University students will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on April 28 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Dows Conference Center with all proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Iowa.

Buena Vista University has announced that Dr. Condoleezza Rice, who served as the U.S. Secretary of State from 2005-2009, will be the 21st William W. Siebens American Heritage Lecture laureate on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Kristen Tripp had one of her ceramic works accepted to the highly competitive 2013 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts National Student Juried Exhibition. Approximately 500 works were submitted for the exhibit, with 54 selected by the jurors.

Buena Vista University hosts its 13th annual Cultural Leadership Conference April 11-14. The conference offers high school students from diverse populations a firsthand look at college life at BVU as they attend classes, seminars, entertainment, and stay in residence halls with current students.

Buena Vista University students are hosting a barefoot walk event on April 16 in support of a national service project, "One Day Without Shoes" to provide shoes for needy children. This will be the second year that students have hosted the event.

Tyson-Jay Domingo won first place for poster design at the regional conference of the National Association of Campus Activities. He had submitted a poster he designed for a BVU Student Activities Board event in February.

The Buena Vista University Concert Choir will be presenting its Spring Major Works Concert on Sunday, April 14. The choir is directed by Dr. Paula Keeler, who has announced her retirement at the end of this academic year after teaching at BVU for 14 years.

Buena Vista University is sponsoring the seventh annual "Show Us Your Stuff" contest which showcases some of the best creative work in digital media in the area.

BVU's ninth annual Scholars Day will be held on April 29. BVU students from all disciplines will present original research and other academic work to their peers, professors and the public in an intellectually engaging environment.

Laura Hilby, a 2012 BVU graduate, is one of 39 nationwide recipients of the 2012 Elijah Watt Sells Award presented by the American Institute of CPAs to outstanding performers on the uniform CPA exam.

Buena Vista University graduate Dr. Trent Grundmeyer, principal of Indianola High School, has been named the 2013 Iowa Secondary Principal of the Year by School Administrators of Iowa.
