GET INVOVLED AT BVU

Your interests Are Part of Your College Experience.

College is about more than what happens in the classroom. At Buena Vista University, you can pursue the interests you already love, discover something new, compete, perform, and gain hands-on experience alongside students who share your passions.

BVU's cocurricular opportunities give you another way to find your community, build skills, and make the most of your college experience.

Compete. Connect. Level Up.

Esports

Take your gaming to the next level with BVU Esports. Compete from our dedicated Esports Arena as part of a team environment built around competition, strategy, communication, and community.

BVU fields teams in games such as League of Legends, Rocket League, Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Madden, FIFA, and NBA 2K, with offerings evolving based on student interest.

Compete and Build Skills

Esports is about more than gaming. Through competition and teamwork, you'll strengthen skills in problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking while connecting with fellow students.

BVU Esports has also earned championship success, including conference titles in Rocket League.

Music Concert
Perform. Create. Find Your Sound.

Music

You don't have to major in music to make it part of your BVU experience. Students from majors across campus participate in vocal and instrumental ensembles, perform at campus and community events, collaborate with professional musicians, and even take their talents abroad.

Opportunities include choir, concert band, jazz band, rock ensemble, Marching Blue, Blue Steel Pep Band, and Color Guard. Music scholarships are also available to eligible first-year Storm Lake campus students who participate in BVU music programs.

Student at Archery Practice
Aim Higher. Compete Together.

Archery

Take your skills to the collegiate level with BVU Archery. Students compete individually and as a team against colleges and universities throughout Iowa, the Midwest, and beyond.

BVU welcomes archers with a range of experience levels and disciplines, providing opportunities to strengthen your marksmanship, compete, and become part of the Beaver community.

Students Preparing for Show
Take Your Experience Into the Show Ring.

Livestock Showing Team

Stay connected to the show ring or discover livestock showing for the first time with BVU's Livestock Showing Team. Open to students of any major, the team provides hands-on opportunities to work with beef and swine, prepare animals for competition, and participate in shows throughout the Midwest.

Bring your own animal or work with BVU livestock while gaining practical experience and building relationships with students who share your interests.

Build Experience for Your Future

Your time with the Livestock Showing Team can also support your academic and career goals. Pre-veterinary students can gain valuable animal experience, while Agricultural Education students can develop experience raising and showing market animals.

Experienced exhibitors can also serve as mentors to local youth, putting their knowledge to work while strengthening leadership, communication, and teaching skills.

Find More Ways to Get Involved

Your BVU experience doesn't stop with cocurriculars. With student organizations, campus events, leadership opportunities, athletics, and more, there are plenty of ways to meet people, explore your interests, and find your place on campus.

Make BVU Your Own

The experiences you choose outside the classroom can become some of the most memorable parts of college. Compete, perform, lead, learn, and find the opportunities that make BVU feel like your place.
