BVU, Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group Forge Strategic Partnership

More than 300 employees of Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group will have access to educational benefits through a Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group have established a Strategic Partnership to continue to serve and sustain their communities.

This partnership allows for employees of Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“This Strategic Partnership with Buena Vista University is a great opportunity for our employees and their family members,” says Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group Human Resources Generalist Autumn Wirtz. “It aligns with and supports our company culture where we encourage learning and development of our employees."

“As someone in her 40s attending school again, BVU was an excellent choice for me.”

Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group is a nationally recognized leader providing specialized insurance and risk-management solutions for pharmacists and independent pharmacy owners, care facilities, dentists, durable medical equipment providers, home health care operations, gift and card shops, grocery operations, and veterinarians.

Based in Algona, with an additional office in Austin, Tex., Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group employs 315 people and operates in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

“As someone in her 40s attending school again, BVU was an excellent choice for me,” says Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group Assistant Vice President of Internal Audits Shayla Petersen, who received her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from BVU in 2017 and her master’s degree in the same field in 2019. “The online programs were flexible and allowed me to go to school full-time and work full-time along with being a mother and wife. The professors were quick to respond when I had questions and gave excellent feedback on assignments. I would recommend BVU to everyone.”

“BVU is excited to offer grant funding to Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Group employees and their eligible family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Access to quality, affordable education opens many opportunities for individuals, in turn strengthening the communities we serve.”
