BVU, North Union Schools Connect Through Strategic Partnership

North Union Community School District joins Buena Vista University in a Strategic Partnership to provide educational benefits to its full-time employees and their eligible family members.

Buena Vista University (BVU) and the North Union Community School District have entered a Strategic Partnership, working to build up the people and communities both entities serve.

This partnership allows for employees of North Union schools, as well as eligible family members of full-time employees, to receive grant funding to lower the overall cost of education while enrolled in classes at BVU’s Storm Lake campus. Partner grant funding also lowers the cost per credit hour for students enrolled in BVU’s convenient online/hybrid undergraduate programs or the organizational leadership graduate program.

“This win-win partnership connects us with BVU in a positive way, helping to support our employees and their family members as they pursue higher education, which in turn strengthens our workforce.”

“We are excited to establish a Strategic Partnership with BVU as it benefits both our school district and our community,” says North Union Community School District Superintendent Travis Schueller. “This win-win partnership connects us with BVU in a positive way, helping to support our employees and their family members as they pursue higher education, which in turn strengthens our workforce.”

The North Union Community School District has a whole grade sharing agreement for students in grades 6-12 with the neighboring North Kossuth Community School District, serving the communities of Armstrong, Bancroft, Fenton, Ledyard, Lone Rock, Ringsted, and Swea City. More than 120 employees serve about 700 combined students in grades PK-12. The high school is located in Armstrong, the middle school is housed in Swea City, and the elementary schools stand in Fenton and Swea City.

“BVU is excited to partner with the North Union Community School District and offer educational benefits to their employees and family members,” says BVU Director of Strategic Partnerships Laura Todd. “Through BVU’s Strategic Partnerships initiative, we aim to provide further access to a quality, affordable education that will help strengthen our communities.”
