BVU Approved to Teach-Out Students from Argosy University at Lower Cost

Buena Vista University is opening its doors to Argosy University students looking to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees after the school announced its permanent closing of several locations—including Agrosy University Twin Cities.

The Higher Learning Commission informed BVU that the University met requirements to serve as a teach-out option for displaced Argosy students this week. Undergraduate tuition at BVU is normally priced more than $100 less per credit hour than Agrosy’s rate. BVU’s mental health counseling and organizational leadership master’s degree programs also come at a slightly lower price than Argosy’s.

“We also have graduate programs in mental health counseling; organizational leadership; and teacher leadership, curriculum, and instruction which match Argosy’s programs closely and could provide a seamless transition for students.”

Dr. Brian Lenzmeier

Dr. Brian Lenzmeier, provost and vice president for academic affairs at BVU says, “Because of our online degree options and robust listing of programs offered, we feel uniquely prepared to assist Argosy students in completing their degrees in a timely and cost-effective manner.” In order to accommodate students across the country, Lenzmeier says that BVU advisors and financial aid specialists are willing to work with students through phone and internet conferencing, as well as travel to Argosy locations to provide face-to-face assistance with financial aid paperwork and develop personalized degree completion plans for individual students.

Argosy students may be especially interested in BVU programs which parallel Argosy curriculum including undergraduate majors in business, psychology, criminal justice, and information technology. “We also have graduate programs in mental health counseling; organizational leadership; and teacher leadership, curriculum, and instruction which match Argosy’s programs closely and could provide a seamless transition for students,” says Lenzmeier.

Students interested in completing their bachelor’s degree through BVU online, or at one of 16 bachelor’s degree completion locations on community college campuses across Iowa, are encouraged to contact Jen Stockdall at 712.749.1980 or stockdallj@bvu.edu
