Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report

Buena Vista University is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, BVU publishes an Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report that provides information about campus security resources, policies and procedures, fire safety, and crime statistics. The report is updated annually and made available to current and prospective students and employees, as well as anyone who requests a copy.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention

BVU provides drug and alcohol abuse prevention and awareness information, including University policies related to drug and alcohol use.

Vaccination Policy

Buena Vista University requires students to provide documentation of current immunizations as part of enrollment and campus housing eligibility:

  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): Two doses after 12 months of age
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap): One booster within the past 10 years
  • Polio: Documentation of completion of the primary series
  • Meningococcal: At least one dose within the past five years

In accordance with Iowa law, students may request an exemption from immunization requirements by submitting appropriate documentation for a medical or religious exemption.
