Lanny Grigsby, Class of 1960 and associate professor emeritus of mathematics, passed away on Aug. 3. He spent over five decades teaching every type of math offered at Buena Vista and served in several coaching positions for the Beavers.

One in three rural schools, and one in ten urban schools, have special education positions that remain unfilled or are filled by unqualified staff. BVU's comprehensive special education program is specifically designed to combat this crisis.

The Fellows visited a variety of cities and historical locations, including Matanzas, the "Athens of Cuba;" Cienfuegos, the "Paris of Cuba;" Trinidad, a colonial city that was founded in 1514; Jardines del Rey, a coral reef located on Cuba's northern coast; and Playa Giron, the Bay of Pigs.

Each year BVU selects 15-18 students to receive grant funding of $5,000 max per year for up to four years and $2,000 for a science sampler interim trip.
