After traveling to six foreign countries, a BVU history major is digging into an archiving internship. Andrew Hoffman is spending his summer reorganizing veterans' collections for the Carver County Historical Society.

Nathan Arndt, the assistant director and chief curator at the Rod Library, helped write a grant to fund restoration on a large mastodon tusk. Funds for the project came from the The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.

Bjorkgren is an assistant coach for the NBA champion Toronto Raptors, working under rookie head coach Nick Nurse. The Storm Lake native made basketball his career as he entered the coaching ranks not long after helping BVU secure a conference men’s basketball title.

Buena Vista University's Education for Service Scholars broke new ground in the recently completed academic year. The students, all freshmen from Buena Vista County, represent the first member of their immediate families to attend college.

Beginning this fall, BVU will match scholarship aid for the children of Tyson Foods employees in Storm Lake, as well as scholarships awarded through the Tyson Family Foundations.

Brad Kerkhoff and April Brand, brother and sister, both graduated from Buena Vista University in May. Brad took classes and wrestled for the Beavers in Storm Lake, while April took a mix of in-person and online classes through BVU’s Denison site.

The students helped facilitate an interview with Storm Lake Times Editor Art Cullen. The live remote was conducted from the television studio in Lage Communications Center.

Tonia Henning is spending her summer as an intern at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, conducting research into the habitat and diet of sea cucumbers. She will present her findings at a symposium in August.
