Buena Vista University Reaches More Than 200 Strategic Partners

Expanding Access and Opportunity Across Iowa and Beyond

Buena Vista University Reaches More Than 200 Strategic Partners

Buena Vista University (BVU) has surpassed a major milestone, now partnering with more than 200 organizations through its growing network of Strategic Partnerships. This achievement reflects BVU’s dedication to creating opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen communities, and extend the transformative reach of education.

BVU’s Strategic Partnerships span a wide range of sectors, including K–12 school districts, community colleges, hospitals, nonprofits, and businesses. These partnerships provide employees and their eligible family members with partner grant funding that lowers the overall cost of BVU’s online undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as on-campus degree options in Storm Lake.

“Reaching more than 200 strategic partners is a milestone worth celebrating because each one represents a shared commitment to building better lives and stronger communities,” said Jean Bral, Vice President for Extended University Programs. “Our partners recognize that education transforms workplaces, families, and entire communities, and together, we are helping make that transformation possible.”

Through these partnerships, employees of participating organizations and their family members can pursue degree programs that fit their work and life. The initiative supports BVU’s mission to provide affordable, flexible, and high-quality educational opportunities that help individuals advance in their careers and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“Our partners share our belief that access to education changes everything,” said Laura Todd, Director of Strategic Partnerships. “This program goes beyond earning a degree; it is about giving people the tools to grow, lead, and create lasting impact, all while balancing their professional and personal goals. We are honored to work alongside so many organizations that care deeply about their employees’ futures.”

BVU’s strategic partner network includes organizations such as Casey’s, Corteva Agriscience, Fareway, Lakes Regional Healthcare, VT Industries, and Central Bank, among many others. Each partnership is tailored to meet the unique needs of the organization, offering flexible learning pathways and support that align with workforce goals.

"Every new partnership adds another opportunity to make higher education more accessible,” added Bral. “It is exciting to see how these collaborations are opening doors for so many across our region and strengthening opportunities within their communities.”
