Travel Opportunities

We’re Beavers — close to home and around the globe. Through travel study and study abroad opportunities we cultivate our purpose and build cultural awareness. As an undergraduate student at our Storm Lake campus, you have access to domestic and international trips every academic year during January or May interim courses. Where will BVU take you?

travel opportunities

Buena Vista University brings the world to our students, and our students to the world. With our travel and global engagement experiences you will graduate as a well-informed, culturally competent and confident person.

The BVU Study Abroad Program provides learning opportunities around the globe. In the last decade more than 100 students have studied in over twenty countries on six continents.

Through the program our students become more confident, more articulate, more adventuresome and more reflective.  They make new friends, develop new skills, and become new and better versions of themselves. Each year, students find the perfect placement matching both their life and academic goals. Will you be one of those students this year?

Study Travel

During January Interim — and at other times of the year — we sponsor domestic and international study trips. Financial support is available to assist students with these experiences.

Sharing Culture

On campus, our international student community and their friends sponsor activities to share their cultures with their fellow students.

Global Citizenship

Our University Seminar program introduces students to global issues and concerns, promoting awareness of global citizenship and intercultural understanding.

McCorkle Fellows

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Paul and Vivian McCorkle, longtime benefactors of the university, BVU students and faculty develop scholarly and cultural knowledge as they gain international dimensions and perspectives through travel.Upon their return, they share their new international perspectives and learning in the classroom and throughout the university.

Global Fellows

An interdisciplinary international experience

In the Global Fellows Program, BVU students study sustainability and geopolitics from a global perspective. Selected through a competitive process, chosen Beavers spend January near the southernmost city in the world, Puerto Williams, Chile, examining how the world treats its ecosystem.
