OAC

The BVU Outdoor Adventure Club provides students with many opportunities to participate in fun outdoor activities on campus or in Storm Lake including, but not limited to cardboard boat race, Jack-o-lanterns, camping, cross-country skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and snow tubing. We aim to give back to the environment and community while spreading an appreciation for the outdoors.

2017-2018 Outdoor Adventure Trips and Activities

To register for trips and clinics, stop by the Recreation House during open hours. Payment will be processed separately at the Business Office. All trips and clinics must be paid in advance to confirm your spot. All programs are open to students, faculty and staff. Guests are invited to attend, but first priority is granted to students.

Learning Objectives - Trips

  • Student leaders will be able to enhance their leadership capabilities and guide participants in shaping their social and ethical values.
  • Students will develop positive attitudes toward recreational activity through being exposed to new experiences.
  • Students will develop new relationships or stronger relationships with individuals in the groups.

Interested in getting some exercise and trying something new during the month of February and early March? Come join us in the BVU pool and give log rolling a try. From 8-9 pm on the following Wednesdays (February 14, 21, 28 - March 7, 14) we will be there. It is open to everyone so give it a shot. GREAT BOAT FLOAT CHALLENGE - 2016 Pictures

Another Boat Float in the books! Congrats to Blodgett and Kirkholm's seminar class for winning this years boat float. They also won the Pride of the Fleet award. Second place was ROTC and third place was the Aquaholics. Aquaholics also won the Titanic award while Garrett and Katelyn won the People's Choice award! Thanks everyone for participating!

Every year intrepid sailors gather near the Recreation House to test their skills in a battle of cardboard and creativity. Join us and test your luck on the stormy lake waters.This event is open to students, faculty, and staff!

Miss the good old camp days? Join ALPS for SPRING FEST where we will be putting on fun camp activities that are a blast from the past! There will be yummy grub, various games on land and in water, creation of survival kits, and even TIE-DYING (Bring Your Own Fabric). The event will end with the 8th Annual Beaver's Great Boat Float Challenge!

Bicycles available for check out. Come down to ride or get out on the lake with one of our canoes, kayaks or stand-up paddle boards. Opportunity to complete Boater Safety from 3-5 pm.

Come join us in spending three days in Decorah, Iowa for fly fishing and to spend some time outdoors. We will be discovering the environmental wonders of fishing in Iowa. Leaving Friday, April 15 and returning the 17th with lots of outdoor time in between. The wonderful Mark Kirkholm and Dr. Coogan will be joining us to help widen and expand the adventure. This trip will cost $20 per person which does not include your fishing license or trout stamp! There are only eight spots available so if you're interested make your way to the business office to make your payment and reserve your spot. Come out and learn more about world renown authors, lecturers and developers on the art of fly-fishing. Dave and Emily Whitlock will be doing two ACES events next week. On Tuesday, March 15th at 4 pm they will be talking about "The Essence of Fly-fishing" while on Wednesday, March 16 at 4 pm they will be discussing "Stream Conservation: Saving the Earth one stream at a time." Both events will take place in room 126 in the Science Center.
