Sevond Cole begins his sixth year as head coach for the Beaver wrestling team in 2013-14.

During his tenure, Cole has coached five national qualifiers and one conference runner-up, as well as one regional runner-up.

He returned to the mat at Buena Vista as an assistant in 2007-08 after a one-year absence. Cole had been an assistant for the Beavers from 2001-2006. He spent the 2006-07 year as a volunteer wrestling coach and a middle school science instructor in the Griswold School District.

Following graduation from BVU in 2001, Cole went on to serve as an assistant coach with the Beavers while also teaching fifth grade math and science in the Storm Lake School District.

Prior to joining the BVU staff in 2001, Cole was a two-time All-American for the Beavers (1999 and 2000) under legendary coach Al Baxter at 174 pounds. He also captured a conference championship in 1999, while being tabbed a Scholar All-American in 2000.
