The Buena Vista track and field teams combined to win five different events on Saturday and finished in the top-5 in several others, as the teams took part in the Prairie Wolf Invite, hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University. The men finished third out of five teams, with the women taking fourth.
Maggie Marker won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes on the women’s side to highlight the day for the Beavers. She also ran the anchor leg of the team’s 4x100 meter relay team which won the three-team race with a time of 48.43.
Holly Neutzman rounds out the victories for the women’s side after crossing first in the 400 meter dash with a clocking of 1:00.86.
BVU took home titles on the men’s side with a pair of wins in the field events. Bo Darrow captured the crown in the javelin throw with a toss of 172’ 9”. He won by nearly six feet.
Nolan Sampson took home the title in the high jump after clearing 1.93m.
The men tallied a total of 123 points and was 28 points clear of Wayne State and only 15 points behind Northern State. The Beaver women chalked up 123.5 points and were only 5.5 behind Wayne State for third.
BVU is looking to send select individuals to compete during the annual Drake Relays coming up starting Thursday, April 25, while the full team is scheduled to take part in the Viking Classic, hosted by Grand View University on Saturday, April 27.
