Study the language, stories and poetry that shapes our lives. Students sharpen their communication skills, and explore literature, critical theory, cultural studies, and creative writing to prepare for careers in a world shaped increasingly by the powers of text, imagination and tale.

BVU’s English major cultivates teachers, scholars, poets, critical thinkers, and lifelong lovers of learning. The program guides students through surveys and advanced courses in classical and modern literatures, language and various forms of genres of composition and creative writing. Our students are trained to read perceptively and write sharply, which are skills employers have, and will always, look for. The English program prepares students for a broad spectrum of career opportunities.
