Since 2011, BVU has served as the host university to the Institute for the Prevention of Relationship Violence (IPRV), one of the world's foremost experts on the prevention of child abuse, dating violence, domestic violence, and elder abuse.

Led by CEO and Founder, Pamela Lassiter Cathey and Principal Investigator Dr. Wind Goodfriend, one of BVU's esteemed faculty members, IPRV focuses on creating strategic partnerships between the non-profit, academic, for-profit and government sectors that result in profound social change.

What's new at IPRV

  • IPRV and BVU launch one of the nation’s first, if not the first, fully accredited minors in Trauma Advocacy (TRAC) through BVU’s Graduate and Professional Studies program.
  • Factor analysis completed on primary prevention research: Fourteen Early Warning Signs of a Potentially Violent Relationship. Research to be disseminated in fall of 2016.
  • IPRV and BVU developing prevention-focused, evidence-based Trauma Advocacy Continuing Education Courses and Certificates (TRACEC) for professionals who serve the needs of trauma victims.
