“...greater impact on the world”

Jacklyn Johnson, Class of 2013

Jacklyn Johnson

Hometown: Litchfield, Minn.
Major: Biology
Internship: St. Joseph's Mission Hospital in Migori, Kenya

“When I went to Kenya I was considering a career in the medical field. However, as much as I loved working in the hospital, several of the patients I saw did not live more than a few days because the diseases they suffered from were not curable. The loss of these patients made me realize that I could have a greater impact on the world doing medical research.”

“...solidified my desire”

Cameron Matters, Class of 2013

Hometown: Humboldt, Iowa
Major: Biology
Internship: The Olympic Training Center for the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colorado

“I absolutely loved my internship experience. I met some amazing people and built lifelong friendships. Working with elite Olympic athletes only solidified my desire to become a sports medicine physician. It was a combination of the people I worked with, the athletes I met, and the unique experiences that truly made my internship memorable.”
