Dr. Tracy Thomas

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Dr. Thomas is a clinical and forensic psychologist. At BVU, she teaches courses related to these subdisciplines of psychology, including: abnormal psychology, psychopathology, forensic psychology, introduction to counseling, and addictions. In addition to being an assistant professor at BVU, Dr. Thomas maintains a private forensic psychology practice, in which she provides forensic evaluation and consultation. Dr. Thomas is the only Board Certified forensic psychologist with a practice in Iowa. Interested students are given the opportunity to observe Dr. Thomas in her work as a forensic psychologist, such as attending court when she is providing expert witness testimony. Dr. Thomas also supervises the psychology internship program and assists students with a variety of interests to obtain meaningful internships. 
Dr. Thomas received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from West Virginia University and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri. After receipt of her doctoral degree, Dr. Thomas spent a year as a Postdoctoral Forensic Fellow at Minnesota State Operated Forensic Services, in St. Peter, Minnesota.
