Dr. Susie Pryor joined Buena Vista University in late 2019. She earned her Ph.D. in marketing from the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Pryor teaches courses in entrepreneurship, marketing, and management. She also serves as Associate Director of the Lamberti Rural Center for Entrepreneurship, where she principally works on issues related to curriculum development.

Over the past 25 years, Dr. Pryor has started a series of successful small businesses in the Midwest in the areas of retail, advertising, real estate and agriculture. She has had the opportunity to help dozens of students launch their own ventures in a wide range of industries. Dr. Pryor's experiences as a serial small business owner and her work consulting with businesses in the Midwest contributes to her effectiveness in the classroom. She is committed to customizing classroom experiences to maximize student success. 

Dr. Pryor's research has largely investigated topics of interest to small and medium sized businesses, with an emphasis on social capital. More recently, she has explored the effective utilization of technology in retailing. Dr. Pryor is currently conducting research on effectively teaching entrepreneurship to individuals on the Autism spectrum. Her work has been published in a wide range of journals including the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, the Journal of Consumer Behaviour, the International Journal of Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Marketing, and Marketing Management, among others.
