Professor Steve Clar most recently served as an Assistant Professor of Sport Management at Briar Cliff University. He has also served as an adjunct instructor for Canisius University, Eastern Michigan University, and Brescia University. Prof. Clar is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research and has completed the first two levels of SABR’s analytics certification program. His specific interests in the sport industry include Sports Analytics and Name/Image & Likeness Issues.
Before teaching, Prof. Clar was a member of the NCAA’s national office staff for 15 years. Working in regulatory compliance, he provided rules interpretations and legislative guidance for Division I member schools, and to external sport organizations, including the NFL, Major League Baseball, and the PGA Tour.
Prior to the NCAA, Prof. Clar was an attorney in New York, where he focused on education law matters. He is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law and holds a Master of Sport Administration from Canisius University. Prof. Clar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.
