Dr. Haas' education and experience spans more than 20 years and includes teaching at the K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels. Additional experiences include instructional coaching, professional development, curriculum design, and department administration. Opportunities in highly diverse settings have acted as both a catalyst and foundation for her focus on integrating and connecting literacy across disciplines through culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices. She is particularly interested in literacy opportunities for underrepresented populations through engagement with popular culture. Her work has been featured through a variety of local, state, national, and international venues including conferences, books, and journal articles.
Dr. Haas offers BVU students insight into a variety of grade levels, support strategies, and administrative perspectives through her first-hand experiences. Her work as both an editor and author keep Dr. Haas current with education research, trends, and policies which in turn benefits her students. Additionally, Dr. Haas provides BVU students with opportunities to publish collaboratively developed articles, attend and co-present at national conferences, and network with nationally recognized literacy leaders.
