Dr. Lanlan Chu joined Buena Vista University in 2017. She received her Ph. D. in Economics from Texas Tech University. Her teaching philosophy is to maximize students’ engagement by integrating real-world scenarios and utilizing a variety of active learning strategies. Her international background allows her to bring broader economic perspectives to the class. Dr. Chu is conducting research in health economics and industrial organization, focusing on population aging, elderly care and well-being. Her work has been presented at Midwest Economics Association, Southern Economics Association, and Missouri Valley Economics Association conferences and published in journals such as Energy Economics and Social Science & Medicine.
