Potential. Though we all have it, developing it takes time and effort. In the School of Social Science, Philosophy & Religion (SSPR), we'll help you explore your potential as you develop skills and intellectual foundations that you can apply to a wide variety of careers.
Though the School's programs are distinctive, they are united by a shared belief in the value of critical thinking, research skills, and the potential of individuals and groups to change the world. The programs the School offers provide their majors with a cohesive, thorough education. At the same time, courses often welcome students exploring interests outside their primary fields of study. To prepare you for graduate school, programs often encourage you to read professional literature and produce research during your junior and senior years.
In SSPR, you'll gain an understanding of the past, a dialogue with the present and skills to address the future. You'll be encouraged to step outside your comfort zone. You'll learn how to confront the challenges of global citizenship. You'll explore the intellectual, social, historical, political, philosophical, and psychological values of our world as you seek insight into its problems and your potential to help contribute to solutions.
