BVU Students Win College Media Awards
BVU media students and organizations won several awards at the 2010 Iowa College Media Association convention. Students competed against entries from community colleges as well as both private and public colleges and universities from across the state.
Campus radio station KBVU and its students won five awards. Jason Jacobs won three of them: first place for Best Sports Play-by-Play; third place for Best Promo, PSA or Commercial; and second place for Best Air Personality. Hilary Dunn won second place for Best Promo, PSA or Commercial, and KBVU took third place in the Radio Station of the Year category.
The Tack won several awards as well, including second place for Best Arts Coverage. Jason Jacobs and Carly Evans received honorable mention for Best Explanatory or Interpretive Story. In the Multimedia categories, Lindsey Marean and Carly Evans won first place for Best Multimedia Slide Show, and Ian LaForge won second place for both Best Interactive Graphic and for Best Use of Social Media. The Tack website also received honorable mention for Best Online Edition.
