For the 2008 year, the Health Score is presented to you as more of an FYI than anything. However, in 2009, look for incentives to be tied directly to the health score using this year's score as a comparison. The score will give you an idea of what to work on. As a general rule of thumb, an 85 or better is considered a "healthy" score. Below are a few commonly asked questions regarding the health score:

Q. What is the Health Score?
A.
The Health Score is a tool that allows employers to reward participants for improvement/change in their health on an annual basis. The Health Score is based on the seven categories of objective data collected at the SimplyWell health screening. Once a participant has attended a health screening, the results are calculated in accordance with the scoring system.

Q. How is the Health Score calculated?
A.
A participant's score is based on the seven categories of objective data collected at the SimplyWell health screening(s). The ranges of scores associated with these categories are established by the National Standards of Health, and have been reviewed by SimplyWell's Medical Advisory Board.

Q. Is it HIPAA compliant?
A.
Yes. No protected health information is shared with an employer without written consent from a participant. The actual score is never shared with the employer.

Q. How do we measure change?
A.
SimplyWell will help you use the Health Score to measure improvement from year to year. SimplyWell will manage the data for you and report improvements within 30 days of the last health screening.

Q. What data is used to determine the Health Score?
A.
There are seven categories of data collected at the screening which contribute to your

  1. Health Score.
  2. Body Mass Index (BMI) Height and Weight
  3. Systolic Blood Pressure
  4. Diastolic Blood Pressure
  5. HDL cholesterol
  6. LDL cholesterol
  7. Triglycerides
  8. Fasting Blood Sugar

Q. What if I don't have a health score?
A.
The score cannot be determined if any of the seven categories are missing. See below for the potential problems why your score could not be determined and solutions for obtaining a Health Score.

Quantity Not Sufficient
If the examiner was unable to obtain enough blood to run the tests, you will be notified and arrangements will be made for a redraw, if desired.

Biometric Data Missing
If any of the biometric data is missing due to missing a station or incorrect data entry by the examiner, you will be notified and an effort will be made to complete the missing data if desired.

Miscellaneous and Unforeseen Occurrences
If the blood was not returned in a timely manner, improper processing of the blood, or missing participant cards, you will be notified and possible solutions will be discussed for correcting the problem. The occurrences described above are rare and every attempt will be made to satisfy the criteria at the initial screening. Under certain circumstances, a reasonable alternative standard will be available.
