Publication Production Assistant Position Opening
October 9, 2008
Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa seeks qualified applicants for the position of Publication Production Assistant. This position reports to the Associate Director of University Marketing & Communication department. Successful applicant must possess a strong knowledge of production of digital files, printing processes and advanced proficiency in producing layouts in QuarkXpress and InDesign.This position is responsible for: graphics production of all assigned publication projects, obtaining portrait photos, taking BVU photos, and assisting the creative director with the scheduling and coordination of large scale marketing photo shoots. Must be highly organized to manage all photo files and have great oral and written communication skills, as this position interacts a great deal with clients and deals with typesetting and layout. BA in graphic design or related field required. Experience with Illustrator and Photoshop preferred.

For the 2008-2009 year, Beaver Tracks will be available for students only through BVU’s Health Services department. For 2009, an even stronger emphasis will be placed on the enrollment of faculty/staff in Simply Well, our University Wellness Program. Please remember, open enrollment for Simply Well begins January 1, 2009 for ALL faculty and staff. An employee does NOT have to be a participant in BVU’s health insurance to enroll. Simply Well enrollment forms are distributed in the benefit packets that are handed out at the Benefits Fair which is scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2008.Blue and Gold Party

Last week was a historic week in the history of our financial markets. The government has provided unprecedented assistance to the markets and the financial industry, unheard of since the Great Depression.Given the complexity of the situation, TIAA-CREF Trust Company has prepared a document that provides an extensive overview of last week’s events. Business Program Advisor-Fort Dodge Position Opening

Buena Vista University is seeking a Business Program Advisor for the Fort Dodge Professional & Online Studies Location. Fort Dodge is one of 14 locations operated throughout Iowa and is located on the campus of Iowa Central Community College. The Fort Dodge Professional & Online Studies location provides junior and senior college courses to students in the entire Fort Dodge area.Responsibilities include advising current and prospective students, recruiting students and faculty, assuring appropriate support services are available to faculty and students, maintaining student and departmental records, and other duties as assigned by the Site Director/Advisor. Evening hours are required.
Requirements: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and related experience. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Tenure Track Position in Biology Opening

Buena Vista University seeks applicants for a tenure track position in biology to begin August, 2009. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise in the general area of human anatomy and physiology, a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education in a small college setting, and strong interest in engaging biology students in meaningful undergraduate research experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to regularly teach introductory and advanced courses in anatomy and physiology to biology majors and students preparing for health related careers, supervise student research for biology majors, and deliver engaging courses to the general student audience. BVU’s highly successful biology program is delivered in an excellently equipped state-of-the-art facility completed in 2004 which includes a human cadaver lab, an FV1000 scanning confocal microscope, and high quality imaging capabilities. The biology program has a strong track record of preparing its students for success in graduate and professional study, as well as for immediate entry into biology related careers.
