Buena Vista University’s campus radio station, KBVU, is celebrating 20 years over the air at 97.5 FM. To celebrate the milestone, an alumni “Birthday Mixer” will take place on Friday, Nov. 17 from 4-6 p.m. in Forum Room 5 on the BVU campus.

“The mixer is a great way for alumni to share their KBVU experiences with current students, and to talk about all the great things the radio station has done over the past 20 years,” said Kyle Wiebers, who is a senior psychology major from Holstein and the station manager of KBVU. “It is a great way for students to network as well.”

The station itself has been around since the 1970s, but it started broadcasting with its current frequency, wattage, and call letters in 1997.

“A lot of things change over time, but KBVU has been a staple on BVU’s campus for decades,” added Wiebers.
