A Buena Vista University student organization and individuals from the campus community were recognized this week by Iowa Campus Compact (ICC) with awards and honorable mentions at ICC’s 2012 anniversary awards ceremony in Dubuque.
ICC was founded in 2003 and is a membership organization of 24 Iowa college and university presidents. ICC helps support its members in both curricular and co-curricular service-learning and civic engagement activities through professional development opportunities, grants, research, student programming and a variety of other opportunities.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the organization, ICC sought nominations for Anniversary Awards. One of the award winners was BVU’s Student MOVE (Mobilizing Outreach Volunteer Efforts) which coordinates student volunteer activities. Among those receiving honorable mentions were Dominique Daily, a May BVU graduate of BVU; Mark Shea, director of student success at BVU; and The Bridge of Storm Lake, a Christian outreach organization that involves volunteers from BVU. Daily co-founded “Love Out Loud,” a non-profit organization in Chicago to help combat violence.
