Larry Anderson begins his 17th season as defensive coordinator for the Beavers, while also serving as the assistant head coach.  While managing the "Beaver D", he has coached 42 all-conference defenders, including 26 over the past nine years alone.

Under his direction, the Beavers have ranked in the top-three in the IIAC in scoring defense in four of the last six seasons, while ranking in the top-three in three of the last five years in rushing defense.  He has also seen several of his defenders rank near the top in numerous categories in Division III statistics during his tenure, including Nick Plueger, who was the nation’s leading tackler in 2012.

Anderson is a graduate of Yankton College in Yankton, S.D., where he was a four-year letter winner in baseball. Anderson was athletic director at I-35 High School and was an assistant football coach at Drake University for 10 seasons. At Drake, Anderson was the defensive line coach, and his squads were ranked in the top 10 in several categories in Division I-AA statistics.

Also a member of the AFCA, he and his wife, Ann, live in Storm Lake. They have two sons, Jeff, and Jay, (BVU's head football coach); and one daughter, Robyn.
