1st year at BVU
Andrew Napier begins his first season with the Beavers and will hold the title of Director of Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach.
Napier arrived on campus following a two-year stint at Cathedral High School in El Paso, Texas, where he was serving as Development Director. In addition, he was the head cross country and assistant track and field coach at the school. Prior to that, he was an assistant cross country and track and field coach for one year at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
A native of Illinois, Napier attended the University of Iowa and was a four-year member of the Hawkeye Cross Country and Track and Field teams and a four-time varsity letterwinner.
He was a member of two Division I National Championship Meet qualifying cross country teams (2005 and 2006).
On the track, he was a two-time Midwest Regional Qualifier in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (2007 and 2008) and was a Big Ten runner-up in 2008. He ranks fifth all-time in school history in the outdoor event and is eighth all-time indoors.
Napier graduated from the U of I in December of 2008 with a bachelor's degree in History.
