La Crosse, Wis.

The Buena Vista track and field teams had four events take part in the NCAA Qualifying Meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Thursday afternoon.

The meet is the final regular season competition for athletes to earn a spot into the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

On the women's side, the 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of freshmen Casey James, Maggie Marker and Laura Eberly, as well as senior Amber Woodford, took ninth overall in a time of 48.47.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Marker, Woodford, Abby Hesnard and Rachel Burnette, also placed ninth, but improved on its time by over two seconds.  The team, which had placed third in a time of 3:58.33 at last weekend's IIAC Outdoor Championships, crossed the finish line on Thursday in 3:56.05.

On the men's side, freshman Seth Woodson, who captured the individual title at last week's championships, took fourth in a time of 1:53.26, which was .36 seconds faster than his previous best.

Senior Tyler Case placed third in the javelin throw with a toss of 52.54 meters.  His best toss coming in was 57.22 meters.  Right behind him in fourth was junior Colin Mann with a toss of 51.94 meters.

The meet concludes the 2012 season for both teams.
