Buena Vista sophomore Stephanie Hayden (Prairie City, Iowa/PCM) has been voted to the All-Iowa Conference Second Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday night.
Hayden, who just last week was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, earns all-conference accolades for the first time in her career, and she gives the program its fourth all-conference performer over the last three years, after it had gone four years without one.
For the year, Hayden, who moved from third base to the outfield midway through her second campaign, finished 10th among all league hitters in batting average (.381) during IIAC play, while hitting lead-off for most of the year. During the 14-game schedule, she turned in two doubles, three RBI and scored four times.
She was a key component to a Beaver team which made consecutive trips into the Iowa Conference Tournament for the first time since the postseason event was re-started back in 2006. BVU finished the year at 14-21 overall (6-8 IIAC).
Central's Caitlyn Meyer was named the IIAC Position Player of the Year, while Coe's Maddison Woodruff was named IIAC Pitcher of the Year. Bob Timmons, who guided the Kohawks to the IIAC title, was voted as Coach of the Year.
