To reserve a room for the 2008-2009 academic year, all currently enrolled students go through the room draw process.
Each student must have a receipt for their $25.00 Room Reservation Deposit from the Business Office in order to sign up for a room.
No cash or checks will be accepted as rooms are being selected; only
receipts from the Business Office. Students may sign up for a room
through the Special Interest Housing, Liberty Hall, Suite or Grand Hall
application processes or the lottery system for Pierce, White or Swope.
All deadlines within all processes will be strictly enforced!
Tips to help make room draw a success for you!
Deciding where to live is a critical part of planning for the
upcoming year. A positive living experience is critical to your success
as a student. For these reasons the Departments of Residence Life and
Housing strongly encourage you to take some time to look over the
information included on this site thoroughly. Only by understanding all
of the processes completely can you ensure the best-possible housing
assignment for next year. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for
Room Draw 2008.
1. Read ALL of the information included on this site. Although at this very moment you may only intend to participate in one or two specific parts of room draw, plans do change. Be prepared for last-minute developments.
2. Put all deadlines in your planner system and mark them boldly! Put reminders to yourself a couple days in advance so you remember when things are due. Deadlines in this process are adhered to strictly so don't wait until the last minute to take care of details.
3. Pay your room deposit fee and keep the receipt in a very safe place. Know where you keep it! You can get a copy of your receipt from the Business Office if you lose it, but the business office closes at 5:00 pm. Since many of our room selection times occur in the evening, you won't be able to get a copy last minute.
4. If you are applying for a special interest location or suite, be sure to select a responsible person to serve as your contact person. Information regarding assignment and room selection times from our office will be communicated only through your contact person so its critical that this person be VERY prompt and responsible. They should be someone who checks their campus mail every day!
5. Attend the informational sessions and floor meetings. These sessions are designed to answer any questions you have about any part of the process. There are informational sessions designed for all parts of Room Draw, so there's no reason to have questions go unanswered.
6. If you don't understand any part of this process, be sure to ask Nate Buseman, Director of Housing. I'm here to help you through this process.
