Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association will be comprised of the Presidents of each hall council, honor council, and cottage council. The Assistant Residence Directors will be welcome to attend meetings but will have no vote. The Director of Residence Life, or his/her designee, will serve as an advisor/member of the RHA but carries no vote.

The purpose of RHA is to improve communication between the hall councils and provide a direct link from student to residence life administration. RHA will organize campus-wide programs such as the annual Halloween Trick or Treating event. They will also serve as a liaison for an annual policy review by bringing feedback from the halls to RHA for suggestions on policy modification. They will be the student committee that will oversee Room Draw - and help to determine solutions to any charges of wrongdoing and to define any gray areas. Additionally, they will provide feedback on improvements to living areas to residence life.

The group will meet once a month, more often if necessary for event planning and coordination.

The group was founded in 1999.

Residence Hall Council

Each residence hall has a student government, which is called hall council. The hall council's are responsible to gather information and serve as liaison between the residents and residence life and housing. Each year the Hall Council's are asked to provide input on the policies effecting residence hall life, the room draw process, and any other residential issues. In addition, the hall council's provide programs for the residents of their hall to build community in the building. Some traditional events are food during finals week, hall dinners and barbeques, movie nights, etc.
