Choose a Major

"What's your major?" is probably one of the most frequently-asked questions on a college campus. If you are uncertain of what college major to choose, you are definitely not alone. Help is available.

A college major is an academic focus. It is sometimes also a career focus, but not always, or not exactly.. For example, an accounting major will likely become an accountant, an education major will likely teach. But a psychology major may or may not become a psychologist. Some majors have more direct relationship to career choices, some do not. Furthermore, the possibilities for how you will actually use your major are vast! Is it any wonder many college students find this a difficult decision.

What is most important to keep in mind is that your entire liberal arts experience prepares you for a career, and your major plays a greater or lesser role in that preparation, depending on which major(s) you choose.
