Internship Q&A

How does my son/daughter find an internship?

Searching for an internship is very similar to that of a job search. Students begin with a self-assessment of what kind of internship he or she is interested in followed by resume development and interviewing preparation. Your son or daughter will have the guidance of a BVU faculty academic advisor to assist them in the identification and selection process as well. Internships can be found through online internship/job search web sites or can be developed through direct contact and/or "networking" efforts. Additionally, in searching for a customized internship, your student may benefit from the professional networks that BVU faculty cultivate with internship employers.

When should my son/daughter start planning for an internship?

Students who are interested in completing an internship may start planning as early as their sophomore year. Internships can be planned for any time of year or semester. Many students take advantage of our interim term in January as well as during summer terms. With advance planning a student can complete at least one, if not two or more during their four year college career. The earlier a student begins planning the more likely the internship will be a positive and rewarding one.

What can my son/daughter do to have a successful internship?

See our Student Internship Guide for Credit for guidelines and steps students can follow to make the most of their BVU internship.

What are the academic guidelines?

See the Academic Guidelines page.
