Whether you’re in Storm Lake for a visit or if you call it home, someday, you’ll have to yield to someone on a bicycle. Or a runner. Or a family out for a walk. It will soon be clear that Storm Lake is bustling with activity.
The lake (is a hub of energy/activity) in the city. Sailboats glide on the smooth morning water, skiers cut through it under the afternoon sun, and lazy pontoons cruise and watch the sunset. In the summer Storm Lake is peppered with boats, and in the winter you’re likely to see ice skaters or hockey enthusiasts.Since BVU’s campus sits just a few feet from the shore, the University provides canoes and kayaks to students. Explore the beaches for a few hours or stake an afternoon claim on one of the islands near shore.
It doesn’t have to be summer to enjoy the water in Storm Lake. King’s Pointe Waterpark encourages “fun in the sun” on the coldest Iowa day. As the snow falls and the winds blow, speed down the waterslides and splash in the pool in the 17,000-foot, climate-controlled indoor waterpark. Even the most discerning waterpark enthusiast will find thrills in this state-of-the-art facility. (Student discounts?)
The Lake Trail will lead you on a trek through six picturesque parks. Home to bikers, joggers, rollerbladers, and walkers, the six-mile trail winds along the north shore of Storm Lake, and plans are underway to construct a path that will circle the entire lake.
By night, the city is alive with a variety of things to do - something suited for everyone. Check out the latest blockbuster or independent film at the city’s three-screen theatre - discount tickets are available for BVU students. Share a meal with friends at one of the many eateries or dance the night away at a local club.
Storm Lake is a dynamic, vibrant community offering entertainment to suit any taste. The city offers plenty of reason to get out and about!
