Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce
After traveling across the country, seeing more states than most of us see in a lifetime, Bill Bryson wrote in his book, The Lost Continent, that Storm Lake flawlessly fits his notion of an ideal small town. In his mind “it seemed just perfect.”
Storm Lake’s beginnings were rural, but it has transformed itself into one of the area’s top destinations. The 3200-acre lake boasts some of the best fishing around. For those without the patience to fish, try your hand at sailing, water skiing, kayaking or just relax on the beach after a swim. If you’re looking for excitement on the water, King’s Pointe Waterpark is just steps from the shores of Storm Lake. The seven waterslides, plunge pool, water volleyball court, and climbing wall have attracted over 50,000 thrill seekers in its first months of operation.
Galleries. (Museums.) Day spas. Amenities you would expect to come across in a larger city can all be found in Storm Lake. Treat yourself to dinner in one of the many fabulous restaurants. Feel like a concert, a lecture, or a play? A diverse array of events awaits every resident and visitor.
And if you don’t feel like doing anything at all, relax and take a stroll through one of the city’s peaceful and charming parks.
While Storm Lake is focused keenly on the future, history still resonates through the city. The beautiful tree-lined streets feature some meticulously restored Victorian homes. Santa’s Castle – regarded as one of the largest displays of antique, animated Christmas characters in the world - is humming with excitement during the holidays.
Storm Lake has an enviable list of things to see and do. Small town atmosphere paired with city sophistication. It really is perfect.
