Contemporary life is a whirlwind of information. You can tune in, log on, switch to, or pick up ideas and art and designs just about anywhere. Media is culture – and it’s everywhere. As you read, watch and listen, take note: it could be you reporting live, taking the next important picture, writing an award-winning article (or blog), or editing the next great viral video sensation.
The media studies program is home to the campus newspaper, television studio and radio station. The major encourages you to be a creative media practitioner as well as a critical consumer through hands-on classes and co-curricular activities. Through your studies, you’ll increase your critical understanding of how media affects your life as you develop professional storytelling skills in publications, design, video, audio, and journalism. You’ll learn to adapt to changing technology and use it to communicate effectively and engagingly, no matter which medium you choose.
