Hi, I am a 2005 graduate of BVU and have been with Professional & Online Studies since October, 2006. I previously worked in the Teaching and Learning with Technology Center (TLTC) on BVU's Storm Lake campus, as a student and then full-time as an Instructional Technologist.

I have roughly 7 years experience providing faculty support, including 3 years experience assisting in designing and developing BVU's online courses. I am the liaison between the Online Programs and the TLTC, and oversee the content and media development for courses in ANGEL. I also serve in an Instructional Designer role working with faculty to develop new courses or redesign existing courses. I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Instructional & Performance Technology.

My name is Ryan Elder and I am an Instructional Designer for the Professional & Online Studies program at Buena Vista University. In my role as an Instructional Designer, I assist teaching faculty in the creation of courses for online delivery.

In my professional experiences, I have had many opportunities to strengthen and enhance my knowledge in the areas of Instructional Design, Teaching Methods and Strategy, and Assessment of both technology impacts and student performance. I have served as a K-12 classroom teacher, Adjunct Instructor, Grants Administrator, Department Head of a Computer Science degree program, and Technology Trainer Support staff for faculty utilizing technology in the classroom. All of these experiences have allowed me to strengthen my knowledge and capacity of working towards creating better student centered teaching and learning environments. I hold a Bachelors Degree from South Dakota State University in the area of Secondary Education and a Masters Degree from the University of Sioux Falls in Education with emphasis in Technology Leadership.
