Lora JuhlLora Juhl, Director of Admissions for Professional & Online Studies

juhll@bvu.edu

Hello.  My name is Lora Juhl and I serve as the Director of Admissions for Buena Vista University Professional & Online Studies.  I received my undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN in 1992 and my masters degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD in 2007.  I started in Admissions with BVU in 1994 and moved to the Office of Financial Assistance in 1995 - 2006.  My primary responsibility was to serve students enrolled in programs at our Professional & Online Studies locations across Iowa and online.  I thoroughly enjoy working with adult learners and jumped at the opportunity in 2006 to work in our newly created Admissions department for Professional & Online Studies.  My responsibilities include recruiting and marketing for all locations and working to ensure that students obtain the support they need in the enrollment process.  Buena Vista University is fully committed to providing exceptional services to our students and continues to look for ways to improve.

My free time is spent primarily as chief chauffeur for my family.  My husband, Steve and I have four daughters, Emma (11), Madalyn (9), Grace (9), and Lauren (9) (yes, they're triplets!).  They are very active and involved in what seems like everything.  We absolutely love following them around and pretty much expect to do this for at least the next 10 years.  As a recent graduate, I can empathize with the challenges facing an adult learner returning to school.  I fully believe in the value of an education and that it is never too late to get that degree!

Tabatha CarneyTabatha Carney, Associate Director of Admissions for Professional & Online Studies

carneyt@bvu.edu

Hi, my name is Tabatha Carney and I'm the Associate Director of Admissions for Buena Vista University Professional & Online Studies and I'm responsible for recruiting and marketing. I received my Bachelors degree from Iowa State University in Ames, IA in 1991. I started at Buena Vista University in the Business Office in 2002. I've always enjoyed helping others and was thrilled to learn in 2007 that the newly created Admissions Department for Professional & Online Studies was hiring recruiters to work within our communities and help guide individuals that are interested in pursuing an education goal.

I understand fully what our students are facing when it comes to balancing their career, family and school. My husband, Brett and I have three children, Brycen (10), Tyler (8), and Mackenzie (4). They keep us on the go at all times. We encourage them to be involved in many activities between school, sports, music and spending time with family and friends. Boy, we didn't realize how one thing multiplied by three can keep a parent running. It's busy but it's worth the extra effort.

My role as a recruiter is definitely a busy one between balancing my career, traveling, raising a family and managing a household. But, I've also learned from my career how important it is to obtain that degree. A big part of my job is working with businesses and helping their employees go back to college. I see first hand how having a degree opens more doors, gives financial security and offers better job satisfaction. I feel everyone deserves the opportunity to have all three of these. Take the first step in completing your degree and SEE THE POSSIBILITIES with Buena Vista University, Professional & Online Studies.

Heather Nyren

Heather Nyren, Enrollment Coach

nyrenh@bvu.edu

Hello, my name is Heather Nyren. I am an enrollment coach for Buena Vista University Professional & Online Studies. In 2001 I began my career at BVU in the Business Office on the Storm Lake campus as the Loans Specialist and moved to the Enrollment Coach position June 2008. The challenge of transitioning to a new position and fitting all the pieces together really excited me. I enjoy all the contact with our student body as well as working closely with the staff at our Professional & Online Studies sites. My primary responsibility is to assist prospective students with their enrollment questions and then to "coach" them through their first terms with BVU ensuring their success. We strive to make their experience rewarding and extraordinary.

In addition to my career, I know a little something about being an adult learner. I am a full-time BVU Professional & Online Studies student majoring in Organizational Leadership. I have two daughters, Alexandrea (17) and Teagan (13).  Having two teenagers really keeps me moving through the course of the day! I feel that it is important to complete my degree. I believe one should never stop learning. I see so many possibilities that my degree will bring for me in the future. I love Buena Vista University and am excited to see all the growth and new programs offered!

Heather Schachtner Kramer, Enrollment Coach

schachtnerh@bvu.edu

Hello, my name is Heather Schachtner Kramer and I am an Enrollment Coach for Buena Vista University Professional & Online Studies. I have been working for BVU since June of 2008.  Before working for BVU I worked for the Iowa Corn Growers Association/Iowa Corn Promotion Board as a Grower Service Representative, managing a 33 county territory in Northwest Iowa. I attended Morningside College in Sioux City for two years and then transferred to Buena Vista University to complete my BA degree.  I also furthered my education a few years later by obtaining my substitute teaching authorization. My primary responsibility is to work with prospective students with interest in attending one of the Buena Vista University Professional & Online Studies sites, helping them through the enrollment process.

My husband Clay and I have two sons, Coltin (11) and Carter (8). We love to do anything outdoors with my family. We spend a lot of time finding great trails to hike and places to camp and fish. We also love to travel together. Clay and I are 4-H leaders and Coltin is a member of our local group.

I know personally that a degree from Buena Vista University has helped me reach my career goals. I look forward to helping students reach their educational goals at Buena Vista University, which will help them achieve their own professional goals in life.
