Transfer students are enrolled in a seminar class based on the number of hours you are transferring to BVU. Check your course schedule. If you are enrolled in OBVU 300 BVU Seminar, the below schedule pertains to you. Please let us know if you need help accessing your schedule.
Friday, August 24
7:30 AM- 1:30 PM - Residence Hall Move In - Residence Halls
- 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Students with the last name beginning with A through L will move in
- 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Students with the last name beginning with M through Z will move in
You will be directed to your residence hall and the check-in table where you will get your keys and sign your housing contract. Members of the O-Team and other student organizations will assist you with moving in. You will also meet your RA and Residence Hall Advisor. Those living off campus will not need to arrive until the lunch time unless you still need to submit forms to Health Services, Financial Assistance or Business Services.
7:30 AM- 1:30 PM - Validation - Dows
If you have not submitted all required forms and payments you will be directed to the Forum where you can meet with Health Services, Financial Assistance and Business Services to complete your requirements. Be sure to bring a copy of your health insurance card and ID.
11:30 AM- 12:15 PM - Lunch - Forum 5
You will have the opportunity to meet other transfer students in your BVU Seminar class and meet your class instructor as you enjoy a nice lunch provided by the university.
12:15 PM- 1:30 PM - Academic Overview - Forum 5
You will begin your academic adventure at BVU as the Registrar’s Office and Office of Academic Affairs share important information about the academic experience that is unique to you as a transfer student. This session will prepare you for the next day when you work with your BVU Seminar instructor to begin preparing your graduation plan.
2:00 PM - Welcome - Siebens Fieldhouse
Bring your family and friends to the Siebens Fieldhouse as you are officially welcomed to BVU by the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.
2:30 PM - New Student Processional - Victory Arch
Take part in your first BVU traditions: the ringing of the Victory Bell and marching through the Victory Arch to Schaller Memorial Chapel.
2:45 PM - Founder’s Day Convocation - Schaller Chapel
Your family and friends are invited to attend the annual Founder’s Day Convocation, another important BVU tradition. Special tributes will be paid to you and your classmates and new students will be presented with the academic foundation.
3:45 PM - President’s Reception - Top of the Forum
President Fred Moore and his wife, Susan, cordially invite you, your parents and guests to a special reception. As you enjoy refreshments, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet many faculty and staff who will be working with you throughout your years at BVU.
4:15 PM - Goodbyes/ Free Time - On Your Own
Students living on campus can bid your family and friends farewell as you begin your BVU experience. Commuter students are not required to events after this time, but may so if they wish. Residential students are expected to participate in the following evening activities.
* Anything after this time is optional, except floor meetings for On Campus Students
5:45 PM - Dinner - Dows Ballroom
You can sit at a table designated for other OBVU 300 students or find other students you would like to meet and join them for a meal through the servery.
*Remember your Student ID for meals.
6:30 PM - Floor Meetings - Residence Halls
Return to your residence hall where everything you’ll ever want to know about where you are living will be discussed at your first floor meeting. Ask questions as your RA reviews important information about life on campus, life in the residence halls, life in the classroom, as well as upcoming activities. This is also an excellent opportunity to have some quality time with your roommate and floor mates.
8:00 PM - GTC Dramatic Dialogues - Anderson Auditorium
Join GTC Dramatic Dialogues and their theatrical approach to important college issues! Bring your thinking cap and be prepared to talk and ask questions!
9:30 PM - Beaver’s Creed Celebration - Scout Park
Take part in another BVU tradition as the Student Senate introduces you to the Beaver’s Creed. After learning about the Beaver’s Creed. As you leave the auditorium you will sign a canvas pledging your adherence to the standards of the BVU community as defined in the Beaver’s Creed. From Anderson you will head to the Rec Center for music, a root beer keg and other fun activities.
